The Best Vitamins and Supplements Grow in the Garden of Life
by Keleigh May on May 22nd, 2015

Is this an April Fool's joke? That's the only thing I could think when I received an email on April 1st from Garden of Life asking me to attend the first ever invitation only Blogger Summit in Palm Beach Gardens, FL, all expenses paid. Pinch me! As I have told y'all before, Garden of Life has been my go to vitamin brand way before I even knew what a "blog" was, so to visit the headquarters and meet the experts behind the brand sounded right up my alley.

Tour of Headquaters

First on our stop we visited the common area/cafe. The wall paper seen on the back wall are actually letters written by Garden of Life employee's stating why they enjoy working at Garden of Life. They even had a blender bike in the cafe. I mean how fun is that? If only all exercise equipment had a built in food reward.
The living wall has the letters "GoL" spelled out in plants, does it get more green than that?
How fitting is it that Garden of Life has vitamins and supplements in candy jars?! Next we visited the store room filled with every Garden of Life product on shelves as they would appear in stores.
I asked our wonderful host Rhonda Price, the director of media and public relations, what was her personal favorite Garden of Life supplement? Her answer was Wobenzym- which in clinically studies shows increases in flexibility and mobility, supports joint and tendon health and temporary relief from aches, pains and muscle soreness due to everyday activity. I texted my mom this information (she came  to Florida with me) and by the time I returned to the hotel that evening, she had already bought them!
From the wall of employees that have been with the company for 10 years or more, to a meditation/relaxation room, it was clear how much Garden of Life valued their employees.

Meet the Experts

After we had our tour, we got to hear from Guy Burgstahler the Vice President of Marketing. This gentleman has worked at some very large companies across the country, and he claims that Garden of Life has an efficacy unlike any he has seen. He is very passionate about the quality of the product coming first and profits coming second. Meaning, the reason you won't find Garden of Life supplements on the shelves at big box retailers is because if they can't source the organic, best possible ingredients in the quantity to fill those orders, they won't do it. They will not sacrifice quality to make more money. Wow. They are working with farmers both in the US and around the world to grow more organic, non-GMO ingredients so that one day they WILL be able to fill those orders. Until then, here is where you can find Garden of Life products near you.
Next, we got to hear from Jeff Brams, General Counsel and Vice President of International. Mr. Brams has a broad legal experience ranging from public relations and marketing to food regulatory issues to litigation management. He spoke to us about the importance of Organic and Non-GMO products . He takes the time to travel the world and meet with the farmers to ensure the quality and standards of ingredients that go into each and every Garden of Life product. That sometimes includes him standing in a cranberry bog full of spiders (who knew cranberry bogs had spiders?!). It is these standards that allow me to have peace of mind that I am purchasing the best possible product for my family. I am thankful that Garden of Life has the economic power to demand better, and hopeful that that power will drive a change throughout the food industry because Garden of Life believes, where there's a meal, there's a way!

Coming Attractions...

Obviously, with all this information, I could write about Garden of Life for four days.  Knowing that that would be too much information at once, I decided to spread the posts out. Let's consider this part 1.  Coming next week....
  • The Education Team behind Garden of Life
  • The importance of protein and probiotics in your diet
  • Exciting NEW products coming this summer
  • Information on my fellow GoL Summit Bloggers
  • How to throw a traditional English Tea
