The Pro's on Probiotics
by Keleigh May on May 27th, 2015

As part of the Garden of Life Blogger Summit, I had the opportunity to hear from and speak with Dawn Jarvis, the Director of Education and Product Support. She is a Licensed Nutritionist and Registered Dietitian with more than thirty years of experience.  She worked for several British Olympic Teams and athletes across England before relocating to United States and joining the Garden of Life Team.  She talked to our group about the Human Microbiome, which is "a collection of trillions of Microbial organisms living in and on the human body."  She explained that research is just beginning to crack the surface of the human Microbiome and that Garden of Life has partnered with Dr. Perlmutter, the leader in the study of the Microbiome, to create a line of probiotic supplements designed to improve our "Gut Health."

Me and My Fellow Bloggers and The Human Microbiome

From Left to Right Dr. Pamela Reilly from Good Works Wellness, Rebecca Schiffenauer from Camp Wander, Amber Gebhardt representing Yoga By Candace, your's truly, human microbiome gal, Roshini Cope from Glamazini, Jesica Salyer from Run on Organics and Dr. Maria Miczak from Best Pics Magazine
So what has changed to spark this interest in the Human Microbiome?  Our Stool (poop)!  Over the course of history, human stool has looked the same, until recent!  Research shows us its been in the last few decades where this change has occurred.  So what is causing this change?  Our diets have changed and the fact that we are now hyper-clean in nearly every aspect of our lives. What is the cornerstone of all disease...inflammation!  Poor gut healh, aka leaky gut, which is caused by inflammation, can be the leading cause of many of today's health problems.  Along with Dr. Perlmutter, Garden of Life has developed a full line of probiotics, enzymes and prebiotic fibers that will change the way you look at supplements.
Which probiotic is right for you?  Many of my family and friends who I have talked to about probiotics have mentioned the fact that they eat probiotic yogurts. Let's look at probiotics like the different breeds of dogs.  Let's say you have a Shih Tzu and your neighbor has a St. Bernard.  You both have dogs, but they are completely different types of dogs.  Eating one type of probiotic will not get the job done.  Garden of Life supplements contain multiple strains of probiotics that will help the different types of people around the world.  The existing probiotics (that I currently take) are not dairy-free, however, the new line of products will be hypoallergenic, dairy free and 100% vegan, there is truly a different supplement for everyone.  They will offer a Once Daily, Once Daily Ultra, Urinary Tract, Prostate, Mood and more to help you support a healthy microbiome.  ‚ÄčTo ensure the highest of quality products are available, Garden of Life using a state of art blending and humidity control system as well as cold storage for each process of the products.
Studies have shown that are gut health can be directly tied to our battle with obesity.  Making sure your gut stays healthy is the key to fighting this battle and Garden of Life is ready to be your partner. So if you're looking to make a change, or add a dietary supplement to your daily routine, be sure to check out this new line of Probiotics due to hit shelves in June.  Afraid your gut is leaking or filled with too much bad bacteria and not enough good?  Go get a bottle of Garden of Life probiotics, because those bacteria know that where there's a meal, there's a way!
Me and "the palate of Garden of Life", Sherri Gunn. Her job is flavor. No seriously, every Garden of Life product you try, she has spent countless hours, and hundreds of taste tests insuring the flavor is on point. So how do the new Probiotics taste? I'll let my most honest taste tester tell you .
Bless his heart, he was so disappointed I only brought home 2, lucky for hime the new line of Dr. Formulated Probiotics will be out in June!
